Velvet AI is an iOS app for discovering and chatting with fictional AI personalities. In the current App Store review build, ordinary chat messages and user chat images are processed locally/on-device and are not sent to a third-party AI service. We do not sell personal data, we do not use third-party advertising SDKs, and we do not track users across apps or websites.
Summary
No third-party ads No cross-app tracking Local-first chats No third-party AI chat sharing in this build Apple In-App PurchaseData stored on your device
Conversation history, character preferences, app settings, selected offline model information, cached model data, cached media assets, and user images attached inside chats are stored locally on your device unless you explicitly use a feature that needs a server connection.
Voice input is optional and only starts after the system microphone and speech permissions are requested. Velvet does not store or upload your audio recordings to Velvet servers. Depending on device and language availability, Apple's speech recognition technology may process speech under Apple's own privacy practices.
Data Velvet may collect
- Account identifiers used for guest mode, Sign in with Apple, and premium entitlement sync.
- Name or display name and email address if you choose Sign in with Apple and Apple provides those fields.
- Purchase and entitlement data, such as product ID, transaction ID, original transaction ID, environment, and signed Apple transaction payload, so Premium can be restored and synced.
- Technical server logs, such as IP address, user agent, timestamps, requested URLs, and error events, for security, abuse prevention, reliability, and debugging.
- Support messages and contact information if you contact us for help or privacy requests.
Apple processes payment details for In-App Purchases. Velvet does not receive or store credit card numbers or Apple ID payment credentials.

- We do not send ordinary chat messages or user chat images to OpenAI or any other third-party AI service in the current App Store review build.

Server features used by Velvet
Velvet may connect to Velvet-owned servers for Premium entitlement sync, model catalog metadata, approved photo pack downloads, app configuration, support, and security logs. These server features are not used to send ordinary chat conversations to a third-party AI provider in this build.
How we use data
- App functionality, including account state, Premium access, restore purchases, and local app preferences.
- Security and reliability, including server protection, error diagnosis, and abuse prevention.
- Customer support, including responding to requests and privacy questions.
Your choices
- You can use guest mode without providing an email address.
- You can delete your Velvet account and local app data inside the app from Settings > Account & Privacy > Delete account and Velvet data.
- If a backend Premium account exists, the same in-app deletion flow asks Velvet servers to remove the linked backend account and entitlement record, then clears local data.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions from your Apple ID subscription settings.
- You can contact us to request access, deletion, or correction of data associated with Velvet services.
